Birthing destination for over 200 mothers

Also open to couples who may not choose to deliver at Cradle, these sessions are designed for effective birthing and parenthood.
Nestled in the heart of Jayanagar, this structure seldom goes unnoticed. Rashmi Nischal didn't miss it either. "I was quite impressed when I saw Cradle. I thought the building was a shopping centre, but when I did call to find out, it turned out to be a birthing boutique for mothers to be," says Rashmi. Cradle was just slated to open then, and Rashmi had made up her mind to be the first mother to give birth there. "I even changed my obstetrician at the last minute to deliver at Cradle. They let my husband be with me; I could see my son being born and enjoyed the whole process. Dr Kishore Kumar is my son's pediatrician and I keep going back there. He is very helpful, always takes our calls and always explains why my child has to be given a particular treatment," she smiles.

Since then Cradle has been a dream destination for 234 mothers-to-be . "Because pregnancy changes one's body beyond imagination, we have antenatal classes to help make the experience memorable and easy. These sessions provide information pertaining to pregnancy , child birth and also an opportunity to ask all those little questions one is too embarrassed about," says Dr Kishore Kumar, CEO & managing director, Cradle, Bangalore.

These classes cover aspects on how to deal with body changes during pregnancy , tackle myths related to pregnancy, yoga, the process of labour, delivery and the options for pain relief, information on screening newborns and stem cells, care for newborns , aspects of breast feeding, the role of dads and information on prevention of Post Natal Depression (PND).

Chaithanya Subrahmanya and her husband attended these sessions together and have benefited greatly from them. "We heard about these sessions when I was in my seventh month of pregnancy . My husband and I enrolled for them and they have been really worth it. Experts gave us a lot of information and we also gained confidence about being first-time parents. Although mine was supposed to be a normal delivery , it turned out to be a Csection . Because I was already prepared for this, thanks to these sessions, I actually went smiling all the way to give birth. My husband too had learnt how to handle the baby and cut the umbilical cord! Lamaze classes teach breathing techniques and help manage pain. These sessions also gave us a lot of information on baby infections and how to cope when a baby cries. Both my husband and I are enjoying the process of being parents and are able to manage it with confidence."

The Cradle has a specialised team to conduct these antenatal classes. "They are divided into two sessions spread over Saturdays and Sundays for a duration of four hours each. Moving on to advanced levels, the intensive courses include comprehensive classical, Lamaze and physiotherapy training, yoga, tips on how to face the real world and once the child is born, techniques on baby massage," says Dr Kishore.

Also open to couples who may not choose to deliver at Cradle, these sessions are designed for effective birthing and parenthood .
