KITS BRING CANCER HOPE

A Huge drop in bowel cancer has been predicted if people use the self-testing kit being sent over 60s in Notts.

It is part of a new nationwide screening programme to pick up the disease and treat it early.

Experts at Cancer Research UK said there would be up to 20,000 fewer deaths over the next 20 years if just 60 per cent of those eligible for bowel screening went ahead with the simple test.

The kit is being sent out to people aged between 60 and 69 as part of the national bowel cancer screening programme. There are almost 35,000 cases of bowel cancer diagnosed each year in the UK.
